JIFFest closes with a flurry of prizes

MACAU - Indonesian comedy "Quickie Express" was awarded the Best Feature Film prize at the 10th Jakarta International Film Festival (JIFFest) which closed Wednesday.
The film, chosen from the 84 eligible Indonesian films released theatrically in the past year, took home a IDR 25 million ($2,300) cash prize. The festival's Best Director prize was awarded to Mouly Surya, helmer of "Fiksi."

The festical's other competitive segment, the Script Development Competition, awarded four prizes ranging from $2,300 to $6,900 to an assortment of genre scripts.

The Documentary Script prize was awarded to Rngga Kusmalendra's "I am a Beggar," while "Night of the Bride"and "The Teacher" both won the Short Fiction Script category. The $4,600 Best Feature Film Script prize was awarded to Tumpal Christian Tampubolon for his screenplay "Sidewalk Dogs."

Next year's JiFFest is skedded to bow Dec 5.
